Our Philosophy
Marlyn Abramson’s New Dance Workshop, under the direction of Marlyn Abramson, has studios located in Lansdale, Harleysville, Springhouse, and Jamison. The instructional staff are university trained in dance and have either their BFA or MFA degrees in dance. The faculty is committed to providing students an experience that promotes individual success through a curriculum which emphasizes discipline and patience in a caring and nurturing environment. “We believe that fantastic things can happen to those that study dance. Improved coordination, posture, and self-confidence are among some of the benefits. Our student-centered approach to the art of dance fosters creativity and self-expression.”
Our studios provide a community-based dance education program to children and adults. A full curriculum in dance techniques is offered using a developmental approach that enables students to learn and grow at their own pace in a non-competitive atmosphere. Our curriculum consists of Ballet, Pointe, Modern, Lyrical, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Theater Production, Irish Step, and Preschool Gymnastics.
Our years of experience with a community-based dance program have revealed that most students want to learn general dance techniques and have fun. Some students, however, get more involved and want more of a challenge and greater opportunities. For those students, Dance Company is available. Currently we have twenty-four companies that perform at local events and special concerts. Most recent performances have been at the Peaches & Stuff Festival in Harleysville, Oktoberfest in Ambler, Crohns & Colitis Event in Doylestown, the Montgomery Mall, and Walt Disney World in February 2011.
Our Dance Company students will be performing on an invitational basis every other year at Walt Disney World. Performances in the past have been at Universal Studios, Six Flags Great Adventure, Thanksgiving Day Parade in Philadelphia, and with the Donetsk Ballet Company from Ukraine in the production of the Nutcracker in December, 2011.
Our modern facilities provide fully air conditioned studios, custom dance floors, floor to ceiling mirrors and comfortable waiting rooms and dressing rooms.
We are committed to providing students with an experience that promotes individual success through a program that emphasizes discipline and patience in a caring and loving environment.
“We believe that fantastic things can happen to those who study Dance. Coordination, posture and self-confidence are among some of the benefits derived from a student-centered approach to Dance that fosters creativity and self expression.”
Essential to the creative process are the instructors and their interaction with the students. Only seasoned professionals in their respective disciplines who have an understanding of child development are on staff. Most of our instructors have their Bachelor’s Degree in Dance and some hold a Master’s Degree.
