CELEBRATING OUR 40TH ANNIVERSARY!
In 1973 Marlyn Abramson, Executive Director, opened the Marlyn Abramson School of Dance in Lansdale, PA. The objective was to provide a community based school that was non-competitive, performance-based, and inclusive for all children and adults. In 1997 she acquired the New Dance Workshop in West Point, PA which is now located in Springhouse, PA, and then expanded with studios in Harleysville, PA and Jamison, PA. |
A Tribute to Miss Marlyn
“In 1973 Marlyn Abramson opened the doors of our home and started teaching dance to the neighborhood children. In 1973 most woman were not starting their own business- but my mom did!
From our home, Miss Marlyn moved to a local preschool and then to a studio on Courtland Street in Lansdale.
Throughout the last 40 yrs she has taught hundreds of children to dance. She has shared her love and passion for dance with the community and her family.
We now have 4 locations and over 25 dance companies.
I consider myself very lucky to have had Miss Marlyn as my first teacher, she has been my mentor, friend and of course my mom!
She is the best the business has to offer. I am so proud of you mom and Congratulations on the last 40 yrs. Looking forward to many more!”

Congratulations to the dancers who were accepted for the Nutcracker Ballet Cast! The Nutcracker performance will be held on Friday, December 6, 2013 with the Donetsk Ballet Company from the Ukraine. If you are interested in this great opportunity but missed the auditions please contact Miss Jen or Miss Erin to arrange an audition. There are only a few spots left!
Students of Marlyn Abramson’s New Dance Workshops were at Walt Disney World for their sixth invitational performance on February 3, 2013. Dance company students from the Lansdale, Springhouse, Harleysville, and Jamison schools overwhelmed the enthusiastic crowd on the stage at Downtown Disney with two performances of Jazz and Hip-Hop. Many parents and grandparents traveled with the students to enjoy the performance and the Disney World experience. Click here to watch our Disney 2013 Performance.
Our philosophy shaped the development of our curriculum which provides dance education utilizing a developmental approach. This enables students to learn and grow at their own pace in a non-competitive atmosphere. Decades of experience with a community based program has revealed that most students want to learn general dance movements and have fun. Some students, however, want to get more involved and desire a greater challenge with more dance opportunities. For these students, Dance Company is available. Currently there are twenty-four performing companies which include: Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Contemporary Lyrical, and Irish Step. Our companies will be performing at Walt Disney World in February 2013 which marks our sixth invitational performance!
The studios also provide special programs such as Preschool Enrichment, dance birthday parties and the convenience of our instructors travelling to camps to provide dance training.
